NuNorthern Soul 2025 So Far

We’re halfway through the year and NuNorthern Soul has already delivered a run of varied and well-received releases. From debut appearances to returning artists and remixes of catalogue favourites.

The label continues to highlight music ranging from Balearic listening and dub-tinged experiments to sunset sounds and deeper dance-floor tracks.

Yarni – Restructured & Reworked

Released 21 March 2025 Sheffield producer Yarni was invited to take a fresh look at material from the NuNorthern Soul catalogue. The result was a one-off four track digital EP, reworking music from Ragz Nordset, Be.lanuit, North of the Island and NaiL. Each version reshaped the originals with Yarni’s own production style.

Balaphonic – Resolution Revolutions

Released 25 April 2025 Danny Ward, known for his work as Dubble D and Moodymanc, delivered a mini album under his Balaphonic alias. It moves across global influences with sitar, whistles and percussion alongside deep house and dub touches. A wide-ranging, considered vinyl and digital release that highlights his musicianship.

Various Artists - Summer Selections 5

Released 20 June 2025. Our annual Summer Selections returned with six tracks from forthcoming EPs. It gives a snapshot of where the label is heading, featuring music from George Koutalieris, Visions of Light, Roots Artefact and more. A vinyl and digital release that captures the label’s current direction.

Visions of Light – The Mandala Vortex

Released 11 July 2025. This debut LP from Simon Sheldon’s Visions of Light project explores ambient, dub and jazz influences. It’s an atmospheric record built for deeper listening and shows another side of the NuNorthern Soul catalogue.

Roots Artefact – Different Perspectives EP

Released 1 August 2025. Estonian producer Saimon, recording as Roots Artefact, joined the label with an EP rooted in Balearic-dub. The release balances downtempo pieces with tracks aimed at the dubby side of things, offering a varied introduction to his work.

George Koutalieris – Seasons

Released 15 August 2025. Athens-based producer George Koutalieris returned to NuNorthern Soul with his own standalone EP, Seasons. Built around acoustic guitar, warm pads and reflective electronic textures, the record captures a contemplative, late-summer feel.

Tambores En Benirras – Ondas Horizontales Remixes One

Released 22 August 2025. The first set of remixes from Graham Newby’s Ondas Horizontales album arrived in August. Contributions came from Ruf Dug, Steve Cobby, Andres y Xavi and Simon Sheldon, each offering their own take on the original material.
